Donate

True of all museums, we cannot meet our operating expenses through admissions and memberships alone. We rely on the generosity of our patrons and friends to help support our work as an educational resource for the community. Your donation means we can continue meaningful projects, from vehicle restoration to facility improvement, as well as funding field trips for Title I schools to internships and summer camp scholarships. Please join today!

All donations are fully tax deductible as allowed by law. The San Diego Automotive Museum is a tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) charitable organization (Tax ID 33-0147359) and all donations are acknowledged.

Planned Giving

We each plan our future in different ways. Some people can make an outright gift; others must plan for later years. Whether you are creating a will for the first time or revisiting your estate provisions, we hope you will include the Museum in your philanthropic plans.

Donate a Car

We accept vehicles of both museum and non-museum quality.

Why Donate Your Car to the San Diego Automotive Museum?

Like all non-profit museums, our admission fees pay only part of our operating costs.  We seek funding from corporate sponsors, foundations, and government agencies.  Individuals can support the museum with cash gifts or vehicles of any kind.

Some people think they have to own a restored classic or vintage car to be considered a valued contributor. That is simply not true. We take most vehicles for display in our museum or for sale to help fund our programming and exhibit development. Yes, we always need cars for our collection. And yes, we need well-worn cars we can turn into much-needed cash for operations.

Why does it matter?

  • You would be supporting a reputable and well-known that has served all of San Diego and beyond since 1988.
  • We make it easy! We handle all of the paperwork for you, including the title transfer and the paperwork required to receive a charitable tax deduction on your tax return.
  • Eliminate the hassle of selling your car and put that old car to a good use.
  • We're green – Most cars are sold, but we're able to take the cars that nobody wants and recycle them. So even the cars in the worst shape can become something new.

Whether you want to donate a car of significant monetary value or one that is just taking up space, our donation program is the perfect choice.  It all starts with a phone call. Please contact Patrick Heffernan patrick@sdautomuseum.org  619.398.0310 to get the process started.
