2003 Tatuus Formula Renault V6

2003 Tatuus on display at the San Diego Automotive Museum

This Tatuus Fomrula Renault V6 Eurocup was a Formula One (F1) training car, used in the Renault World Series in 2003 and 2004. This “spec” series (all teams using the same chassis, engines, and gearboxes) was a step on the ladder for a young driver hoping to earn a seat in F1. Teams supplied their own drivers and engineering talent, and the cars ran in the support races prior to the F1 races.

Red Bull Racing sponsored promising drivers in this series as early as 2002 to groom talent for their entry into F1. These cars were used by several drivers that went on to drive for Scuderia Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing, including Christian Klien, Vinantonio Liuzzi, and Sebastien Vettel. When this car (chassis #31) was restored by Virtuoso Performance, it was finished in the early Red Bull livery in homage to the team and their commitment to developing new talent.
