Retail Sales Associate
At the San Diego Automotive Museum, the Retail Sales Associate is responsible for handling admission and sales transactions in the Museum Store. This position is the first and main contact point between the Museum and the visiting public. The Retail Sales Associate sells admission tickets, store merchandise, and memberships; maintains the stock and appearance in the Museum Gift Shop; handles cash and credit card transactions; and provides information to Museum guests.
Essential Traits
We are looking for an enthusiastic Retail Sales Associate who:
● Is a great communicator. Assists the museum members and visitors in a friendly and courteous manner to provide an amazing visitor experience.
● Is productive. An engaged member of the team interested in the Museum operations and its history as well as Balboa Park.
● Is responsible. Arrives on time, and excels at accurate sales transactions including working with merchandise, counting money, keeping the store neat and stocked, and closing procedures.
- Is a self starter.
Primary Responsibilities
● Greet the public in a friendly, respectful, and courteous manner.
● Communicate clearly and openly with the museum members, visitors, and staff.
● Learn about the Museum merchandise and the history and operations of the Museum and Balboa Park and its amenities, to answer visitor inquiries.
● Sell admission tickets, store merchandise, park passes and memberships and handle cash and credit card transactions in an accurate and courteous manner.
● Provide a brief oral orientation of the museum to visitors and groups as needed.
● Receives deliveries and maintains the giftshop.
● Professionally greet special guests/contractors and ensure they are welcomed and routed according to the nature of their visit.
● Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills
● High School diploma or equivalent
● Working knowledge of computers
● Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is a plus
● Ability to understand and utilize the point of sales computers and cash management system. A minimum of six months experience required.
● Highly organized and detail oriented
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Demonstrated motivation to interact with the public and staff
● Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a workstation, walk, stand, climb stairs, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
● Must be able to work all day weekend shifts, some nights, and some holidays
● Ability to speak Spanish or other languages is a plus
● Knowledge of Balboa Park is a plus
Typical Physical Demands
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time at a desk/workstation, walk, reach, bend, stoop, stand, climb stairs, climb ladders, and lift/carry up to 50 lbs. (or assist lifting/carrying) on a regular basis, as required to perform the functions of the job.
Typical Equipment Used
Point-of-sales register system, computer, phone, fax, copier, scanner, digital camera, etc.

Position Details
Hourly, part-time with weekly hours averaging 25 hours per week including weekend shifts, 5-8 hours per shift. Pay rate is $18.00 – $19.00 per hour. Reports to the Admissions Lead and the Chief Operations Officer.

Education Programs Coordinator
POSITION: EDUCATION PROGRAMS COORDINATOR
REPORTS TO: EDUCATION DEPARTMENT HEAD
POSITION DETAILS: FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT
San Diego Automotive Museum (SDAM) seeks a self-motivated full-time Education Programs Specialist to lead and assist in the development and implementation of educational programs and activities for our innovative automotive museum located in historic Balboa Park. Reporting to the Education Department Head, the ideal candidate will possess a passion for learning and be knowledgeable about informal learning environments and best practices.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Programming
• Take an active role in fulfilling the SDAM’s educational vision.
• Execute SDAM’s educational initiatives as they relate to exhibits, program planning, outreach efforts, camps, and other educational activities.
• Lead and assist STEAM Programing, as well as curriculum writing for grades TK-12.
• Assist with the design of STEAM-focused educational programs, including but not limited to educational school workshops.
• Assist with Career Technical Education (CTE) Program, IGNITE Academy.
• Assist and go to person for multiple day camp sessions, reporting to Education Department Head.
• Ensure that programs promote creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain working knowledge of current theory and best practices in museum education and state education standards.
• Maintain involvement with professional associations and activities to stay current with best practices and developments in the field.
• Works with the Education Department Head to develop new programs to meet needs within our network of schools, libraries, and community centers.
Partnership Development
• Establish educational partnerships with schools, community groups and industry partners.
• Professionally represent the museum at events with partnering agencies, organizations, and the general public.
• Report participant and partner feedback on programs to the Head of Education.
• Attend events and programs as a representative of SDAM.
General Duties
· Supports project administration for the Education Department Head, School and Education Community Programs, including completing work orders, ordering supplies, processing, tracking payments, and conducting other administrative duties.
· Assist with teaching and guide IGNITE Academy students throughout the program.
· Participate in continuing educational opportunities for professional growth and development.
· Continual program evaluation and data collection to measure success and impact.
· Regularly communicate progress on goals to the Head of Education.
· Assist with regular reports for senior management and stakeholders.
· Assist in the development of program budgets.
· Supports project administration for the education department including but not limited to, completing work orders, ordering supplies, processing and tracking payments.
· Collaborate with educators to develop engaging and effective curriculum for various programs.
· Assist with various educational marketing efforts.
· Always keep interactions professional and respectful with SDAM staff and guests.

• Good verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage multiple priorities, and adjust to delays and unexpected events.
Typical Physical Demands:
Sitting at desk/workstation for extended periods of time. Frequent walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs, and lifting/carrying/pushing up to 40lbs.

Regular use of computer, printer, telephone, and other standard office equipment.
Position Details:
This is full-time 30 hours per week, nonexempt position, Monday-Friday. Weekends and some nights are to be expected, as well as off-site programming. The pay range is $20 – $25 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience.
